Is it plausible that individuals lived to over years of age-as is stated in the Bible. A good question. Short answer: Yes.

When I first read the first book in the Bible decades ago as a new Christian (raised in a non-Christian family), it soun. As we go through the Book of Genesis we see that the life spans of key figures get shorter.

This seems to figuratively represent how sin brings death into the world. Recent Church teaching has leaned toward interpreting Genesis as stories that, while they have some basis in history, are meant primarily to teach theological and spiritual.

Maybe people really did used to live a very long time – other traditions tell of ancients living for many years longer than we suppose to be possible, as another poster pointed out.

Some of them supposedly lived to be years old or. “Methuseleh lived years but these stories you’re liable to read in the Bible, they ain’t necessarily so.”1 Along with American composer George Gershwin, many people find it difficult to believe that Methuselah lived to be years old.

As such, John's prophetic word in 'Being Church: Reflections on How to Live as the People of God' is a challenging read, and yet a necessary read for anyone wishing to take seriously their discipleship to Jesus and to take seriously what it means to be churchTato Sumantri, Church of the Servant King, Eugene, Oregon4/5(6).

A Rare Look Inside the Year-Old Urnes Stave Church, Norway Do a Google Image Search for photos of Norway's Urnes Stave Church and you'll find hundreds of results.

But if you scan through them, you'll notice that % of these are exterior shots, and the few interior shots that do show up are actually from one of Norway's 27 other stave churches. Personal or national tragedy (and especially since 9/11) seems to cause a major shift in people’s assessment of church.

It is a time when people flock to churches in droves. There is just something about churches that society finds in times of tragedy and hardship. This always fascinates me because the media and general public embrace church.
